Executives at Boston-based Life Image and Bialogics Analytics, Toronto, say they believe the move will help provider organizations optimize operations and improve interoperability.

Life Image and Bialogics contend that their strategic partnership will streamline providers\u2019 access to analytics of medical imaging, enabling them to enhance operational and financial performance, as well as boosting patient satisfaction.

Through the partnership, Life Image customers will be able to use the Bialogics data engine to capture data flowing from common standards, such as DICOM, HL7, XML and FHIR. Applying analytics to imaging data can help providers gain more insight into diseases and treatments, the partners contend.

\u201cThe way imaging data has been collected and managed has advanced significantly. This data represents a treasure trove of information that is of significant strategic value that, until recently, has been untapped due to structure, format and interoperability challenges,\u201d says Jeff Vachon, president of Bialogics. \u201cThrough this partnership \u2026 users can perform analysis from their desktop without the need to request and wait months for IT-driven reports.\u201d

Bialogics\u2019 vendor-agnostic analytical platform for medical imaging can be integrated into existing hospital systems. Through this partnership, the Bialogics analytical tool is being offered to Life Image\u2019s large global network of hospital and health systems to help organizations gather data from mission-critical clinical systems isolated within hospitals, physician practices and regional infrastructures\u2014this includes admissions, discharge, transfer, order entry, pharmacy, laboratory, digital imaging and medical records.

Life Image customers will be able to analyze their operations, including image management, procedure management, practice management and workflow analysis. Healthcare organizations may gain insights through analytics\u2014for example, providers can optimize procedure times to increase overall efficiency, improve scheduling and productivity, decrease patient wait time and length of office stay, expedite patient treatment plans or increase utilization of modality assets.
