Hackensack Meridian Health, a 13-hospital delivery system in New Jersey, will pilot the IBM Watson for Oncology clinical decision support tool in collaboration with clinical analytics vendor Cota. This is the first time Cota is being used with Watson technology. The goal is to help physicians make evidence- and outcomes-based clinical decisions for cancer patients while lowering costs. The Hackensack pilot will start with 10 oncologists; Watson will help clinicians identify and rank treatment options.<\/li><\/ul>

Einstein Healthcare Network, a 1,044-bed delivery system serving the Philadelphia region, will launch a telemedicine initiative to serve patients and its 8,500 employees. The vendor is Teladoc, which serves about 7,500 clients, including insurers, providers, employers and individual members, who have access to more than 3,100 physicians and therapists on a 24x7 basis. The vendor has supported more than 2.5 million medical consultations for general medical, dermatology, counseling, psychiatry, sexual health and tobacco cessation treatment.<\/li><\/ul>
Scripps Mercy Physician Partners and its independent physician association in San Diego has selected the chronic care platform of Chronic Care Management LLC to support core care management activities, including care planning, care coordination, medication management, patient assessments and quality measures. The platform also will support accountable care organization programs such as Medicare Shared Savings, MIPS, Bundled Payments, Comprehensive Primary Care Plus, Payments for Quality Improvement and Independence at Home. An advance scheduling system and a call center to address continuity of care and outreach to patients between physician visits also is part of the package.<\/li><\/ul>

Tufts Medical Center is live on a new specialty drug prescribing platform from ZappRx. The technology is first being used in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine with plans to expand to other areas of the hospital. ZappRx is a start-up company that recently closed a $25 million funding round. Its platform collects and saves information required to fill a specialty prescription in one step that includes pharmacy information, payer\/prior authorization and relevant patient clinical history.<\/li><\/ul>
Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Neb., a Meditech client since 2011, is upgrading to the vendor\u2019s newer Web EHR, seeking better ease of use and integration.
